There IS a Stigma attached to it, and that is, in my opinion, the worst part of Methadone. It's original purpose was NOT Heroin Addiction, it WAS pain management (invented in Germany I think. I'll find out if anyone is actually interested .... lol) Then through the years it was found as a good way to detox people from heroin (which was also a pain med at one time). Up until the mid to late '90s many many doctors thought that they could not even prescribe it! Now fortunately there are a few more enlightened pain management doctors around.
Doglover, if nothing else works, maybe this will.
I believe the More 'Regular' people that health professionals and others see on a Methadone pain management program, the less chance the stigma has.
Methadone is one of the cheapest Long Acting Narcotic Pain relievers, I know that Medical (which is the same as Medicaid I think) covers it.
Take Care All & I hope everyone had as pain free Thanksgiving as possible!
