sorry to hear about your toe. as i am not a doctor i cannot offer you any qualified advice but i can tell you about a similar experience i had and what i did about it. when i was 12 or 13 i was in school playing ball at recess. somehow the ball was hit to me weird and i tried to catch it just at the moment that it bounced off the ground and i broke my ring finger on my right hand. the pain was excruciating. i started to get very light-headed (sign of shock, i later realized) and i felt like i was going to pass out so i left the game to sit on a bench. one of my classmates approached me and asked me if i was alright. i lied and said i was fine. she said that i looked white as a sheet. i don't remember much after that. i never told anyone about it because i was afraid that i would get in trouble and i didn't want to be punished. but my finger got really swollen and it stayed swollen and tender for a long time. even just touching it was agonizing. i remember this because had to hide my hand for a long time until the swelling went down so no one would notice. i don't remember if it turned black and blue or not. this was a long time ago. but my finger is now crooked, and even after all these years, certain things still aggravate it, like if someone squeezes my hand too roughly. it gets all swollen and hurts again for a couple of weeks. thank God the broken finger is on my right hand! (i am a right-handed guitarist, i need full dexterity on my left hand)
so my advice to you is if you don't want a crooked toe you should go get it checked.
i can't believe i remembered that much of that experience, makes me feel kind of weird thinking about it. feel better writing about it somehow. but i think i need to bury it again.
good luck with your toe. hope you feel better.
