valium is very long, there are shorter ones. xanax is a shorter one but its said to be the most addictive. maybe ativan is a short one. look it up on rxlist. triazolam and ambien are very short sleeping ones where you will have no effect in the morning.
diphenhydramine, the over the counter antihistamine, may be an effective alternative to GABA drugs for insomnia. it is offically indicated for histiminergic allergies, motion sickness, and insomnia. common brand names are "benedryl" and "unisom" but always buy generic. sams club has 400 pills for 3 dollars where as unisom is like 6 bucks for 12 50mg pills, outragious. ask your doc about it
