As an adjunct to lovepink's post...
I regularly use ibuprofen or acetaminophen concurrently with my methadone (obtained through my pain specialist, by the way) to help control my pain. I get substantially more relief when using NSAIDs and/or APAP in conjunction with my narcotic. The benefit to my situation, of course, is that I control excatly how much of each drug I take.
And I also agree with many of the above posters that pain that is not treated well with hydrocodone will require an in-person doctor's visit and a prescription for something "stronger" to be filled locally. Good luck finding adequate pain control.
