You can try placing the affected hand palm side down on a table waist height while standing and putting a bit of weight onto the hand and gently pull back on your thumb. This will stretch your flexor retinaculum, let the synovial fluid bath the median nerve and allow it to glide along the tendon that is (more often than not in your case) crushing it. This, if done multiple times throughout the day, should provide some relief.
