Freak accident or not, you entrusted yourself to the competency of a good doctor. It wouldn't hurt to consult with some malpractice lawyers and get a feel for what you may be entitled to.
My husband lost complete vision in his left eye when he was struck with a paint pellet gun. He had 4 surgeries, refused to sue the guy who did it and has nothing but problems with the eye ever since. He needs to take several different eye drops 3 times a day. If he doesn't he forms blisters and gets high pressure in the eye, causing severe pain. I'm not trying to scare you, but these things happen.
The thing I don't get is that he can drive and do an assortment of things with only the one eye. He said after his injury, his other eye became stronger. And since he has to care for the eye with such a rigorous routine, I suggested he just get a fake eye. He won't have anything to do with it.
Anway, talk to some lawyers! The ones who only get paid if you do!

P.S. By the way, cover-ups are more common than we care to think, when it comes to our health and malpractice. I know of many cover-up scams by doctors, legal enforcement, politicians, etc. Don't be discouraged or give up because one dopey attorney won't think twice about your case. Just move right along to the next lawyer. It takes several/many contacts to find just the right person to help you.
