As I recall, bleach effectively destroys the sample, so a quick test (dipping a special card in the sample) might come up false negative, but if the sample were sent out to a lab, they would quickly detect that it was an altered sample, unsuitable for analysis. Most PO departments are well aware of this ruse, but many PO's (& apparently this woman's employer) might be too lazy or cheap to send the sample out for lab analysis.
