Has anyone been successful with FM and SSI ? My husband has FM and has been out of work since Aug of LAST year on first STD and now LTD. We live in NC and I hear it is hard enough in NC ? Is it worth him applying and how does he apply?
I believe it's always worth applying. I am saying that now, while I am just starting the first ring around the rosie for benefits. . . I don't know what I will be saying a year from now or whatever on my 3rd appeal.
I WILL tell you that certain kinds of assistance you CAN get immediately. I went in to the HRS office on Monday with *everything* (birth certificate, SS card, last paycheck, last bank statement, proof of rent, phone bills, a few medical bills, and a notice of my loss of work) and left with the case worker initiatiing SSI and Medicaid, and a food stamp card. My first medical evaluation is this coming Thursday.
HINT read needinfo's posts in this thread.
