Did you go to your PCP or a specialist like a rheumatologist? PCPs generally don't know how to do a throught exam for fibro. Within 15 minutes of listening to my symptoms and doing a trigger point exam-he pushed not to hard, but not gently either. You have to have 11 out of 18 tender points, or something close to that number. He also discovered anykylosing spondylits on the exam, which I never had guessed that I have. I don't know what is causing all of the pain. Right now, my legs and joints hurt more that anything. For months, my back would ache and burn so bad. Now that has gotten better, but all of my extermeties hurt. My rhematologist has not been aggressive in the treatment of the AS, and that is not cool. It can be a crippling disease if not treated properly. I am going to find a new doctor who will take a look at the new symptoms I am having, and I suggest you do the same. Im also going to ask for a referral to a pain doc. My tolerance is getting too high, and I am taking methadone, hydro, ultram, and flexeril. With all of that I can still feel the pain. I also have terrible bruises that popped up on my legs for no reason, and my legs look like they are not getting enought circulation. They get blotchy and turn purplish with red spots with white centers. Its like a rash, and comes and goes. Id like to know what it is, but of course, It never appears when I go to the doc.
I am just really scared right now. I am afraid I am going to lose my job because of this illness. It has put limitations on a lot of things. I can't work as hard or as long as I used to. My boss can't understand that I can't work a 10 hour shift with only a half hour lunch. I need an hour so I can sleep in the car. I used to do that, then he changed the schedule so I only get 1/2 hour. Im going to ask my PCP if she can get me a mandatory hour rest break. Otherwise I can't makeit through the day. He has been hinting that I am close to being let go. Can he fire me for this? I can't help it. I don't ask for this pain or to fall asleep at my desk. It happened and I got in trouble-almost fired. They think it is an attitude problem. Why can't they understand that I am sick and have a chronic disease?
But anyways, doglover-get a referral to a specialist. BTW, what did they give you for the pain? Vioxx? I bet they tried that or an antidepressant. I have had that Best if kept off the board shoved at me so many times. I have so many sample cases of those drugs, I feel I should donate them to someone who needs them.
