I don't disagree with you on your general theory and I know you were most likely just trying to make a general analogy with the above quote but its not really a fair comparison, more an apples vs. oranges type. If a customer desperately needs office supplies from Staples and the Staples website indicates "being processed" or fails to send a tracking number, that customer can easily take a drive to a brick & mortar Staples, OfficeMax, or the like while waiting for the order. As we all know (hence our presence at DB), its not quite as easy (or inexpensive) with controlled medication.
I don't currently use consult based OPs so I'm not trying to defend myself, just making a general observation. In many cases I agree that its to the detriment of the patient to call, email, etc. but its sometimes required, as we've seen with BuyMeds.
