The town this occurred in is a suburb of NYC...postal officials and law enforcement may be more leery of packages originating in Pakistan because of recent intelligence obtained by captured Al-Quaeda indicating that sleeper cells in the New York City area are mobilizing for another terror attack. This town was also home to several dozen victims of 9/11 so LE and residents may be alot more sensitive & attuned to what they deem "suspicious activities" than in other parts of the country.
