Interesting that you should post this, since I was just thinking about this topic myself! :-) My husband is the only person who knows that I use an op, and quite frankly, I am fairly secretive about my medical problems with anyone else (with the exception of my fellow board members, of course ). I have gone through the ringer with years of specialists, physical therapists, etc. who have treated my disc problems and I just really don't like to whine about my physical problems with family and friends, you know?!? My husband was very reluctant, to say the least, when I told him that I found an online op (through db message boards). He was afraid that it would be a scam...honestly, I was hesitant as well. I thought....too good to be true not having to deal with regular physicians who tell me that I am just going to have to live with my pain and to do a few floor/stretching exercises. Yeah right! If they were the ones who had pain like this, they would be asking for a morphine drip 24/7! I just think that some things should be personal, imho.
