The reason that happens dr13 is because after mail is delivered to your post office, later in the day, sometimes extra bags of priority and express mail come in. They then send a person around to the various carriers with these packages so they can deliver them. Since your mailman had already passed your house, he came back. He could wait till the next day (for priority but not express) but he's being a nice guy and doubling back....
