This all comes down to one thing: PERSONAL RESPONSABILITY. These 2 simple words seen to escape a great deal of American citizens. If each of us were to take responsability of our own actions then big government would'nt have to stick it's fat nose in everything we do. My state motto is "Live Free or Die" and IMO that is the only way to live. We are constantly being told we have to be saved from ourselves. For goodness sake! Enough already!
Do I feel bad for this person's family? You bet. BUT this person was 18 years old. He was an adult according to these same people making all these restrictive laws. I would like to hear one of them tell me which one is true:
A) At 18 years of age you are an adult. You can vote, buy ciggaretts, fight for your country, and go to big kids prison if you commit a felony.
OR
B) All people, no matter what age, are all idiots and congress has to hold our hand at every turn.
I am so fired up right now. This issue affects us all. OP users or not. Its just one more click of the handcuffs put on by the tyranny of those in office.
I work, I vote, I pay taxes and I am a cronic pain patient who is about to undergo back surgery. I own a home and raise my child to be a good person. But I am afraid of what this world will hold for her when she is my age. Scary.
America is the greatest country in the world & I would never want to live anywhere else. Just please let me live my life in peace & comfort. If nothing I do hurts anyone else then let me get on with it. Live & let live. Just stop telling me what to do or not do!
*whew*
YOU ARE RIGHT! I am ashamed to say that when I first read that article I didn't have my glasses on, and I thought it said he was 16, not 18! My teenage son had the absolute right to walk into a Marine Recruiting Office and enlist during wartime...was I happy? NO, not initially..but he was over the age of majority and he is doing what HE chose to do, and I am proud as hell of him! The kid is legally an adult...whether he chooses to do drugs or join the USMC!
