Seems to me if you take a Tagamet before or with your Hydro you sould be better off in more ways than one, according to the "drug interaction" section of drugs.com:

MONITOR:
Cimetidine may increase the action of narcotic analgesics. Cases of respiratory depression and apnea have been reported. The mechanism is unknown.
MANAGEMENT:
Patients' vital signs should be closely monitored while receiving this combination. If clinically significant respiratory depression occurs, the drugs should be withdrawn. The use of a narcotic antagonist, such as naloxone, may be needed.
Animal studies and some limited human studies have suggested that cimetidine may decrease the potential hepatotoxic effects of acetaminophen. The mechanism may be related to reductions in the rate at which reactive intermediate metabolites are formed. Not all studies have confirmed the occurrence of this interaction. No alterations in dosage are necessary."
Sounds too good to be true, except for that "respiratory depression" thing...
