Shouldn't all doctors provide a script on request?
      11/30/04 02:24 PM

What's the ruling on this?

It seems like all-in-one online rx services are depriving you of your right to get an actual script. By all-in-one, I mean doctors who consult with you for a fee, and then forward your script to their partner pharmacy who mails you the meds... which would pretty much be all of them.

If you ask the doctor for a script, rather than the meds, shouldn't he/she have to mail you one? The obvious need for this is because I have insurance and a stiff PCP. I'd much rather pay a $10 copay than $100 and another $20 for shipping.

I understand that whatever script I get filled using my insurance will be on record, and I am okay with that.

Also, what would happen if I got the original script filled via the online rx (as normally done), and then took the empty container to the local CVS for my refills? Does anyone do this? Does it matter whether or not the medication is scheduled, or if the doctor is out of state? Does this throw up all kinds of flags if CVS sees the pharmacy that filled it is online?

I apologize if this question is posted in an FAQ on DB. I looked for a good 30 minutes and didn't find it. I also noticed it's a pretty common question (IMHO) NOT addressed by any OLP FAQs I've seen.

Please advise.
