For those who are battling serious illnesses/chronic pain, etc, I am wondering how you manage day to day life with your kids. What are you dealing with and is it easier on or off meds? love, juliah
Hi there, I have to say I only have 1 son 5 yrs old and very active I am 39 and had my 1st back surgery just before getting pregnant with him, the pregnancy was hell as I still needed a second back surgery, which was very difficult on me, because at that point he was only 1 and I had to rely on my Mom and my husband all the time, as I was in a brace for a year and the screws they put in my back were in wrong and going right into the nerves and other soft tissue, I had to wait another year to get them removed, as my bones needed that time to fuse, and by that time the damage was done, but my son suffered as I could not pick him up or even play with him for a total of like 3 years, the only thing that helped me to do anything with him was taking pain meds, my son still suffers from all this and is always worried that my back hurts or that someone will cut my back open again, it really did a number on him and me, I missed the beginning of his life, so I must say if the government decides that people who suffer cannot get the pain meds they need not only do will suffer but so will their children and that is the worst part, I however never let my son see me taking my meds as I do not feel that is the proper thing for him to see, because I do not want him to think that it ok to take pain meds since they seem to be the drug of choice for young people to just high on in todays day and age, good luck to all of you who suffer and my prayers are with you all. So in conclusion, if you suffer and need to take meds for it to fuction for your childrens behalf then I say do it, we only live once and we only get on chance to enjoy our children, and if that means having to take some kind of medication then it is all worth it in the end, and remember just because you are dependent on meds to get through the day does make you an addict!!!!
