I have severe arthritis in my left knee. I've tried a bunch of different drugs...Vioxx, Celebrex, Mobic, Bextra...with little or no success. My doctor is pushing me to have knee replacement surgery, which I am NOT prepared to do yet.
I started doing some research and looking into non-prescription meds. A lot of the info I've read says that drugs like Vioxx and Celebrex have never been proven any more effective than ibuprofen.
I also did some research on Glucosamine and Chondroitin (both are dietary supplements). What I found sounded very promising.
So I started taking ibuprofen and Glucosamine/Chondroitin (Glu/Chon is sold in combination). I won't say the result has been amazing but it's pretty durn close. I didn't notice any improvement right away but after several weeks, my knee slowly began to feel better. It's my belief the Glu/Chon is mostly responsible for the change in my condition but I think ibuprofen helps, too.
