I think you may have this confused with buphenorphine,(sp?)AKA Suboxone which is currently 'all the rage' for rapid opiate detox. It has only recently been approved by the FDA for use in the US, but has been used in other countries for a while. My understanding is that it works well and has a high success rate, for those that truly wish to stop taking opiates. Bupropion is the same drug that is Wellbutrin, and it supposedly lowers the seizure threshold, and my understanding is should not be used when withdrawing from narcotics. There are only a few 'addictionologists' licensed to use buph in the US, and it is apparently pretty expensive, however you can occasionally find it in lower doses available internationally, usually under the name 'Temgesic'.
