Remeron was a poor match for me. I felt like a zombie, even after sleeping 8 hours and getting up in the morning. The worst effect was ravenous hunger! I was in the hospital for much of the time I took it, and that still didn't stop me from eating everything in sight. I'd get hunger pains when I was so full I was sick to my stomach... it was crazy! I gained a pound a day for about a month and a half.
It's two years later, and I managed to take the weight off sensibly, but not before I'd topped out above 200 lbs on a 5'6" frame. I'm scared to death to be like that again... I was eating whole jars of peanut butter with a spoon on Remeron. I got a new shrink, and he was horrified that someone had let me continue that medication in the midst of weight gain like that. We have since tried other remedies for sleep and separate antidepressants.
