You're probably right. The War On People has created an entire economy around drug sales. And this is the part that absolutely makes me sick: We have, over the years, spent trillions of dollars of our money to accomplish nothing more than ensuring that these low-lifes can make a healthy profit by exploiting addicts. Stop the insane war, and suddenly these people have to get real jobs like the rest of us.
Once again, UNLESS you are willing to live in a virtual police state (or "village", if you prefer), you can't stop drug use. It didn't work in the 20's with alcohol and it's not working now with drugs. What you CAN do is waste an unbelievable amount of taxpayers' money, make drug-dealing so profitable that teenagers can afford machine guns, and cause millions of citizens with pain to either suffer needlessly or spend exhorbitant amounts of money for medicine that they ought to be free to buy just because they want it.
Speaking solely for myself, I would prefer freedom, and I would prefer a general culture of personal responsibility that recognized that a person's health is their own private realm and that raising their kids was their responsibility. And, in general, I would prefer that the "village" not interfere with how I raise my kids.
