people in my area pay 30$ for oc 20 60$ for 40's and 120.00 for 80's off the street. My area is well known for its problem with oxys my town has made cnn and time magazine the drug problem is so bad since 2001 there have been over 250 ods from oc.nine out of ten people fire them up (shoot up)

you would think if its that coslty, LESS people would use it. when the doc stoped my script for oxy I tried finding it through "alternative" means. That is until I found out how much it was!. I bought a couple of 20s once for 10 bucks each, and one 80 (would never pay 30 bucks for ONE pill, but WDs are a beeach) but after a while, it got pretty redicilous, you know?

But 30 bucks for a 20?! 20s stoped working for me a LONG ago. Thats just insane.

Hmmm…. I hate doing these posts as I always feel like the mode's are going to ban me or something, but since I am going along with a thread, which wandered, so I will also post I think some helpful information about the original topic of this thread, and I’ll try and keep it “within the rules” as possible considering the topic, I'll slip by.

First, lest anyone flame me as an Oxy addict or something, I, personally have never tried it other than through two Perc's once. And considering it's only 5MG of Oxy in a percocet, so I got 10, mg of Oxy, half of the usual smallest dose of Oxy, well, without getting too "recreational" here, let me just say I can understand its popularity and high abuse potential (this coming from an experienced “opiate” user; I use hydro’s for back pain associated with compressed discs in my mid-back).

Also, I do not now nor have I been involved in the illegal drug, ah, “supply” system..

Ok, now that I have tried to cover myself from unwarranted flames or worse as much as possible, my response to your post is basically the reason for such insane street prices is simple capitalism.

First on the demand side, Oxy is a "hot" drug of abuse now. Obviously, the price wouldn’t be $40/pill + if it wasn’t in quite high demand both from recreational users (often kids, grinding and snorting for a high that is reported to be similar to heroin) as well as people who were prescribed it for pain once and then either got addicted or found that (like yourself) that it relieves pain the best without the APAP and liver damage issues but can’t find a sympathetic doctor.

Plus, like I said above, from only one personal experience just taking a small quantity orally (i.e. I didn’t grind it up (not that it would have been so effective with a perc anyway)), I must admit it does give quite a nice buzz.

Before I get myself into more trouble, let’s talk about the real reason for the high street costs; supply issues. First, I would assume Oxy is a lot more difficult drug to obtain since you can only get it through a source that at one point started as a legal one, produced by legal domestic drug companies which pretty much keep relatively tight control over their distributors. So you get illegal prescriptions from “drug doctors” and some siphoning along the distribution process but, point being, most other "street drugs" start with people producing them specifically for the illegal market. Plus, it is not made internationally meaning all must come from domestic suppliers.

I would assume both of these issues have a negative (for the buyer anyway) impact on supply: Production can't just be so easily “increased” to supply a growing market such as well, drugs from pot to crystal death (meth) to cocaine.

So “normal” supply balancing factors that would probably keep prices lower, even in the obviously dysfunctional example of capitalism that the street market is, aren’t available at all or only at high costs.

And let’s face it, with profits like that; there would be more “entries in the market” that would drive the street price down if it was easier to do so
