I placed a similar thread for buspar about Effexor but here is my history on effexor. It was prescribed for my depression about 2 years ago. Started with 75mg Effexor XR once daily with no real change in my depression. About 9 months later I was upped to 150mg of effexor XR and still see no effect on my mood. I read many forums about effexor and its miracle cure drug and saved their life but im waiting on that miracle. The only thing that keeps me going with it was the fact that I kept hearing from people that you must give it a chance. so about a year later and pretty much up to current day, I am on 300mg of effexor XR and I would say that I am not as depressed anymore but my anxiety factor went down drastically. Due to using the maximum (in her opinion) on BUSPAR, she upped my 150 effexor XR to the current 300mg and its starting to work for me.
Side effect wise, I was told there was none but that is a total load of Do a search on your favorite search engine about side effects for effexor and you will see. I went about 6 days without 150mg because I went on vacation and I went through hell in terms of pounding headache, nausia, lethargic and so on.
Its hard for me to say this but I would say give it a try. I am on a lot of meds for various problems and when I started Effexor I would get a kind of high feeling like im floating when I walk. I just thought it was Effexor but that was not the case. I have IBS and take Dicyclomine to relax the muscles in my intestines. This was making that feeling. The side effect for about a good 6 weeks. Now I have no side effects at all and feel pretty good. Hope this helps or give me a buzz if you want to talk more personnal about it.
