Since we don't know if your friend is still taking the med, and if so in what doses, we really can't address the first question. But as to which med would be the best for her, i can say from at least in my experience it very much depends on the individual and their body chemistry. For some folks Ativan is the best. For me all it does is wipe out my memory. Xanax works very well for me but it's more expensive so I tend to stick to valium, even though it makes me a bit groggy at times, or clonazepam, which IMO is sort of a mid-range between valium and xanax. I personally like bromazepam as it works very well for me and seems to cause the least unwanted side-effects, but my old cheap source for it (access-meds) has gone away and i've not seen any deals on it lately. I also have had great luck with Nitrazepam, both with effacacy and it not being to 'troublesome'. There seems to be 30 dozen different benzos if you look around, each with their own little differences. Good luck with/to your friend!
