Have you had a full time job in the last like five years or so? Because in order to get Full disability, you have to have worked long enough to have paid a certain amount into the system. I Know, because I was on SSI. They are two completly different things, but in a way the same. But I HAVE a sister in law who has never worked, and been on welfare to live. And she has 3 kids. She is Very Obese and they gave her disability for That.......I couldn't believe that, but they did. In order to get SSI (Supplimental Security Income), you have to be a dependant on someone who has a job. And they go by That persons wages, to set the amount You would get. As far as getting it for the 2 kids, I'm not sure. But I don't think you can, unless the father of the kids have died, then you could get Survivors Benefits. But in ANY Case, YOU need to go to the Social Security Office, or Call them or go online, and have them send you the proper Application. They will ask you enough questions to find out which one you need. BUT Listen....Get the Application filled out and an Appointment,(They will do it by phone) with Social Security right away. Most of the time they will give you a hard time getting it approved, but just keep on fighting for it. That is why it's there. But anyway get it filed NOW, because when it IS approved, they have to go back to when you filed and PAY you for All of that time. And it is YOU who has to do the paper work. Don't let anyone tell you that it is up to the Drs. Social Security will have you sign a bunch of release papers, cause They will be the ones to gather the Medical information. But BE SURE to keeps notes and copies after copies of EVERYTHING that is sent back and forth between You and the Social Security office. And make sure you keep everything. Put it all in one place from the very start. Some people get it very easily, but the majority of people have to fight and fight. but it is worth it when you need the money, and don't have anyone to help you. I HAVE BEEN THERE!!!!! Good Luck........
