Actually, the real reason that health care is so expensive is because of sue-happy patients and sleaze-bag lawyers combined with an unrealistic tort system and greedy insurance companies.
My own doctor had a combined practice with another doctor and they had to close down and get a job with a professional clinic. The reason, skyrocketing malpractice insurance premiums, due to all the lawsuits, combined with medical insurance companies paying less and less all the time.
If you're curious, ask your PCP about malpractice rates, but be prepared for a rant.
