It's not good for long-term use because it can change the redox state of your cells. This impairs cell function and probably will kill them over a matter of years, along with making you smell bad. I took it for 3 months and didn't notice any ill effects, but at the time I was a full-blown alcoholic, so maybe it was needed every day!
A better supplement is alpha lipoic acid. It supports the antioxidant network that acetaminophen severely taxes, but it doesn't change the steady state of cells. It also may slow the mental decline seen as we grow older (it does in rats).
There's a reason NAC is for overdoses only and is not the next big thing in health medicine.
