all narcotics (opiates) supress the cough reflex to some extent...there's no reason you can't substitute hydro for the perudetas if that's cheaper....are you coughing up sputum? If your cough is a wet one, producing sputum, try to spend part of the day NOT supressing it..only one way for that stuff to get out, you guessed it. Also, have you had any diagnositic tests, like a simple chest xray? a Chronic cough is NOT normal & NOT to be ignored. Good luck
Thanks. I'm a ex-smoker of 43 years and have stage 1 emphysema and I was having severe dry coughing spells daily for the last 2 1/2 years since I quit smoking. Coughing to the point of getting headaches and I sell for a living, so coughing in someones ear while you are trying to pitch is very frustrating. I've been taking one 50 mg. perderutas daily and I haven't coughed in two months, it's been wonderful.
But, I'm noticing that all class 2's are getting harder to get. Yesterday I was on a site that had good prices on hydrocodone, today, all hydrocodone is off the site.
From my research, it looks like hydro is about many times stronger than codeine and easier and cheaper to get.
I do prefer the codeine alone however, as I won't take tylenol or ibuprofen, only aspirin.
Thanks for the feedback, both of you.
Also, I found a very tiny little site in Canada that will sell tylenol number ones or aspirin/codeine, same as number ones and some codeine cough syrup. Not strong, but not too pricey and available if someone is interested.
