I forgot the best place ever! (I have a few friends and family members includng an old roommate who are/were always trying to steal my meds!!!)
When a good friend of mine with a heroin problem was staying with me for a couple of weeks, I had to hide my methadone and Oxy for obvious reasons (as well as my cash, my credit cards and jewelry.) She was horrible about going through my things (although I couldn't directly prove it, I believe she was actually taking the screws out of the door handle on my bedroom to bypass the keyed lock) and so I found myself getting REALLY creative with my hiding places. I utilized the following hiding places on a rotating basis:
INSIDE my computer tower
At the very bottom of my office garbage can (mostly had paper waste in it, so it wasn't like a kitchen garbage!)
INSIDE the heat ducts (it was summer, so only the A/C was coming through them and they were perfect for setting things in because they were located at the bottom of the wall rather than in the floor.)
INSIDE a Trivial Pursuit game that was in the kids' closet on the top shelf (they were very young then and couldn't reach that high, nor would they have wanted to play Trivial Pursuit...besides I rotated my hiding places at least once daily.)
INSIDE my husband's cowboy boot/s
Cut a hole in the floral foam at the bottom of a large silk flower arrangement which was within a brass urn.
If I just had a few pills left, I would put them in a pocket or two of my husband's dress shirts (he wore these like once a year) ...FUNNY, because I found several of my old MSContin tablets inside a shirt pocket after the divorce. Because I frequently had to hide my meds, I often forgot where I had put them and found them several months--even YEARS later!
