The news of operation pharmnet while is bad news for chronic pain patients is not a surprise. Our society as a whole is becoming one of litigation and lawsuits. It begins with people not taking personal responsibility. The overdose on oxycontin as told by all the news networks to adnausium blames the doctors. The doctor did not put the pills in the patients mouth the doctor did not make the person abuse oxycontin.
Int the USA we sue for lead paint, guns alcohol and for our own stupidity. It is far easier to blame then to take responsibility. It is far easier to point a finger at a place that is legal only because its place in society has not been defined yet. When the family of the person takes there revenge they call everyone under the sun. this bring to light LE and the DEA and FDA to look at what is going on. Thus the OP is easy target because it is in the grey area right now
with the hysterical family members calling for revenge (and probably a large sum of money for wrongful death) they will say what ever it takes to win. They will not take responsibility that they watched that person ramp up there meds and not get involved. Where they could have stopped it sooner or warned the doctor.
In all of these Doctor hunts loose there life they had. We CP patients are the victims. These OP that are on the fringe trade money for our comfort and the hopes of a normal life. We CP are the victims in these operations. The op may be in the grey area but it serves us the under treated pain patient
