There was a story on NPR's All Things Considered program this Thursday afternoon about "how easy it is to get prescription drugs" on the internet, with the usual interviews with the DEA and anti-drug people. Here is the summary from their website:
Drug Scams Abound on the Internet
from All Things Considered, Thursday , April 22, 2004
The illegal sale of narcotics and other prescription drugs over the Internet is a growing problem that federal officials are struggling to cope with, according to law enforcement officials. Traffic is rapidly increasing, and there are many cases of fraud and dangerous fluctuations in potency. NPR's Patricia Neighmond reports.
Of course, they all say how easy it is to get OxyContin and other CII narcotics online, and how awful all this is. I was really disappointed by NPR, they do tend to be a bit more thorough in their reporting than the major networks and CNN. It seems that they too have surrendered journalism for hype.
