Amaz,
I am sorry that I did not reply to you earlier, yes this is a very sad state of affairs, as far a a viable date that this may happen??? who knows, its not something that will happen overnight, as I have been informed as far as reshceduling Hydro/Apap this would take at lest a year, what I would suggest is to read some of the other threads as there are some other posters that have taken their valueable time to put these pending bills into plain english as well as give you the means to contact your local government in opposition to these bills, some have even created form letters for you to do this, I would highly suggest doing this. What I definately DO NOT suggest is anyone double dipping to stockpile their meds, you are correct that this would only put the nail in our coffin. There was one poster that has decided to start a slow taper and focus on finding a compasionate pain management doctor, this to me sounds sensible. I really hope that we can keep our OPs there are several out there that are really good and upstanding businesses that I am sure will fight tooth and nail to keep within compliance NWW, YOD are two that come to the top of my mind......I dont want to cause a panic but these things are happening and what I dont want to see is everyone waiting till the last minute and end up into a forced withdrwal which would be pure hell. API is fighting hard for your rights as is many other Chronic Pain Advocacy groups, If you can afford to send a donation, then do that. But my best advice to everyone out there that has been on Hydro therapy is hope for the best but prepare for the worst. What I hope the outcome of this all is that our doctors will be once again free to decide who should recieve narcotic pain relief without the fear of the DEA taking their livelyhood, We all pay dearly for our insurance, It would be great if we could actually go to the MD again and recieve the care we need and only have to pay a co-pay....imagine that, sounds almost like fantasy land but its the way that it SHOULD be! I personally believe that my PCP is much more capeable of deciding who is actually a Pain patient vs a Drug Seeker then the DEA is, it just doesnt make any sense and ALOT of people suffer because of it, many suffer to the point that they take their own lives rather then live in constant pain.......I dont know about you but I just can not accept that, It's completely Inhumane!!! So its up to you, you need to speak up and then decide what is the best route for you to take personally, I dont suggest breaking the law.
