Re: Those nasty SSRI's Not Good For Teenagers

Gee, the eight months that I was on SSRI's I loved it. I felt as if I had become the person that I always knew that I could be. I was outgoing, I ceased to isolate myself, I found myself gravitating toward people that had always intimidated me before and that I shied away from. I was a type A personality. I always thought that a pill can't necessarily "make you" kill yourself. I mean, doctors obviously found these kids to be leaning toward the depressed side am I right? The SSRI's take about a month or so to work, so perhaps these kids had suicidal tendencies to begin with. I believe that these drugs have a much greater upside than a downside. I know a lot of people that SSRI's practically changed there life. They found themselves to be motivated and more self-assured than they ever had.
Medicating kids in general is a touchy subject. Especially when combined with all the changes their bodies are going through chemically. My point is that there will always be a group of people that react to drugs in an adverse way. Yet, the group of people that these drugs help is much larger.
