I have seen one poster on another board start talking about the need to "stockpile" due to the fact that OPs will soon be a thing of the past due to impending legislation. I am concerned such abuses will actually be detrimental to our overall cause of keeping OPs a legitimate option for us, but perhaps the writing is already on the wall and there is nothing we can do to keep them alive. Please someone with a clear idea of this let me know if/when this option will no longer be available to us! It would really diminish the qualilty of my life and in turn my children's if I become crippled by disabling pain, the resulting depression, etc and I think it is a grossly unfair price for me and my family to have to pay - a total decrease in my entire family's quality of life! I more than anyone else, am responsible for the well-being of my entire family and am grossly depressed when my ability to do this to at least a very reasonable level is diminished!
This really puts people in a bad position! Of course we are supposed to only deal with one OP in order to do this legally, and that is what I do - it is my best interest to help the OP be in compliance with all laws and regulations, so I follow the rules. But now I see some people basically getting as much as they can now, which I think is NOT following the rules just to stockpile which is actually encouraging not following the rules? This indeed is a sad result, but I guess they justify it by the likelihood their legitimate source to date, will soon be non-existent!
But by the same token to the degree these abuses are spotted, it furthers the other side's case as to why the OPs need to be eliminated, doesn't it? This is a very BAD situation! I don't want to break the rules but I don't want to be left in pain either. Is there any foreseeable way that we will still be left with the OP option, or are the REALLY on the way out? How soon is this expected to happen?
I'm sorry, I'm sure the answers lie in these posts somewhere but I have been too busy with work to keep up, but I am very concerned! What, if anything can we do to really play by the rules and keep the status quo AND be legal in the process! I don't want to participate in anything that actually hurts the OP's chance of survival by abusing the rules!
Is there any hope or options available for us sufferers (aside from signing the petition which I did) who really have paid the price of suffering for many years of our life - we have already lost a lot of valuable time due to pain, and the related problems stemming from it. Obviously there is a lack of compassionate doctors, hence our need to turn to OPs to begin with. Is there any hope we will be heard, or is it a lost cause already? I sure hope not but I am very discouraged by what I have seen on the boards from news sources in the last week or so. Please advise........Do we have any chance of success and what can we do to maximize it?
