There are several off-shore clinics and at least one source that says they will mail it to the U.S. I have absolutely no personal experience with either the drug or its use for addiction, and don't even have any second-hand information from people who have used it. You can find a lot of pro-ibogaine information, that source just mentioned, and several clinics that use it at http://www.ibogaine.org/
The site also has quite a few pro-ibogaine articles that were published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Just like any medical treatment, it apparently has some opponents as well as its proponents. It might work for some people and not work for others ... but, like Timothy Leary always said, Set and Setting are crucial to the outcome of any psychedelic experience.
I really doubt, though, that it's the kind of thing that would be useful done on someone's own without the guidance of an experienced doctor/guide/shaman/whatever. The doses that are reportedly required to change a person's drug-seeking behavior are quite high. It seems to be an intense experience that could be damaging in the same way that a bad LSD trip could be if set and setting are not conducive. If it was harmful, the psychic harm might be long lasting. Some people who have pre-existing mental imbalances might suffer a psychotic break. But with experienced doctors, a "bad trip" could be ended quite rapidly by injecting drugs such as Thorazine. I don't know if the new anti-psychotics could be used for that purpose.
Many who are familiar with psychedelics believe that it's imperative to have an experienced "sitter" when tripping. This is surely even more true if someone wanted to use ibogaine to treat their own addiction problems.
I would recommend that if someone wanted to use it, that they investigate the various clinics that have medical personnel and are licensed in their country. These places should have a list of satisfied clients willing to talk to prospective customers.
Anyone considering the treatment should also read as much as they can, including what its opponents say about it ... which you probably won't find at ibogaine.org.
No matter what anyone says, this should not be tried at home ... for many reasons.
