If you go to the ibogaine.net website, it's a detox clinic that sells ibogaine when you are admitted to the program. Dr. Mash, the woman who ran the clinical trials, is also running the clinic.

With that said, I've read about this on Ero_id (we can't say the name here, oddly, it gets censored) before and it doesn't look like it's just a scam. I would really like to read something about how it works instead of "it resets switche in the addict's brain." I had this old article bookmarked: http://www.homosapiens.net/ibogaine/page/how.htm . It's very vague though, there are only a few sentences for each neurotransmitter ibogaine is thought to affect.

My best guess is that ibogaine is a good first step towards recovery. It may make withdrawal significantly easier (though no one knows why), and supposedly the addicts who have taken it got profound insights into their life and who they are while taking it. That may prevent relapse to some extent. But it does not take 24-36 hours to become an addict, it will not take 24-36 hours to get clean. Addiction is much more complicated- don't get me wrong, I would love for this African plant to be the magical potion that cures the world of addiction, but I just don't think so. Addiction isn't just biochemical; yeah physical dependence is, but I think some form of therapy is neccessary to treat the psychological dependence.

It will be interesting to see what happens next month if the FDA approves more studies. I'd be very interested in knowing some of the hows and whys about ibogaine, which no on seems to discuss any way other than vaguely in the articles on it.
