I empathize with you and your unfortunate accident, but I can honestly say that I am very grateful the "victim" has absolutely no input where a suspect's bail is concerned. That is strictly up to the judge and for a good reason. A judge is a neutral party and able to make rational decisions that exclude emotions, unlike a victim who's emotions would get in the way of determining an unbiased and fair bail amount. However, the victim does have a chance to be heard in court and has the opportunity to influence the judge and jury as far as sentencing is concerned though, and for that I am grateful as well. I only mention this because I wouldn't want to be the suspect that was rotting in jail with excessive bond placed on me, strictly because the victim has no concept of the US Constitution and the rights provided to us as Americans. Always remember that as Americans we still have the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise.
