I posted occasionally a year or so back with questions regarding "Physician Abandonment" on the DB board. To make a very long story short, I had ten surgeries from January /01 to March / 03 for breast cancer reconstruction.
The surgeries also involved two infections: of one of the implants and MRSA, as a result of a TRAM flap procedure. So, today, my chest looks like several railroad tracks run every which way AND one side goes to my WAIST and the other side is very tiny.
My abdomen has more than the expected scar from the TRAM. I have a huge scar from the MRSA infection and NO belly button!
I have found another surgeon who is going to attempt to fix me, i.e. to make both sides match, as mother nature intended and fix my abdomen.
At first, I was reluctant to even CONSIDER suing, because I have never been involved in a lawsuit, but when he stopped returning my calls and cut me off pain meds IN THE MIDDLE of a surgical recovery, I had a change of heart.
Today, I'm considering a lawsuit for all the pain, anguish and unnecessary procedures that I underwent, while in his care.
My question, are any of you all familiar with what it takes to sue a physician? How does one find an attorney?
I don't know where to start. Also, the surgeries were done in a neighboring state. Your help is appreciated!
BTW, I don't want a zillion dollars; I simply want enough money to cover what my insurance does not cover.
I have omitted LOTS of other issues here, but there isn't the space for all of it.
