This is a fascinating thread. I have IBS with constipation - I nearly went to the ER Friday night I was in such misery, like nothing I've ever experienced before. I had a colonoscopy a couple of months ago - after their cleansing ritual my test came back normal, everything was "pink" and normal inside and that doctor told me I wasn't eating enough fiber and to eat 1/2 cup of Fiber One cereal every day with one teaspoon of olive oil - if I stick to that regimen it pretty much does work - however, I went back on the Atkins Diet after the holidays, which includes a lot of protein which for me is hard to digest, and I got myself into a world of hurt recently. I have found the drug for women Zelnorm to work quite well for me - if I take it every day I pretty much don't have any problems with constipation or that awful bloating, gas and stomach aches! Oh - the doctor did say that a person should have a bowel movement for each meal they eat - I wondered about that at the time. My husband definitely does - he's the most regular person in the world! Or....is that a "guy" thing?

Anyway, interesting topic. I did a search on the Internet one time on "mucoid plaque" - it was fascinating the results I found. Talk about toxins in your colon, parasites, etc. I do think a lot of it is a gimmick to sell herbal supplements to cleanse the bowel and these new fangled sonic enemas done professionally.
