Ultram - Your honest opinion!

Local doc just gave me a script for Ultram, 50 mg. take 1-2 tabs every 4-6 hours for pain. I have to admit I am somewhat skeptical about starting this new med, doc said it would save my liver/kidneys in the long run and to only take my hydro for breakthrough pain. What can I expect from Ultram, should I really be worried about a seizure as everyone says?
