It does not matter if someone claims to have been in the situation before. Being a defendant in a prescription fraud case does not make you a lawyer, even if you believe that they have been.
All any of us are doing is speculating. Personally, I think you are better off denying it all until you speak to a lawyer who can guide you.
My practical joke idea was not meant to be legal advice. You should not defend yourself in front a jury and say "Yeah, it was just a practical joke." I was merely pointing out that you may have an alibi if you deny anything. You might have a ton of alibis.
I admit that I am not a lawyer, nor do I know the law. I was just offering you some hope and an idea that is worth discussing with a lawyer- it wasn't meant to be anything else.
The one thing you should never do is spill the beans. That is known amongst anyone who has ever had ANY kind of run-in with the law and spoken to a lawyer. That is what I was getting at.
We do not know what your penalty will be. Even if we had been in your situation, we still don't know what it would be- not all cases are the same.
CALL A LAWYER. Many have free initial consultations. They are the ONLY ones who can tell you what you need to know. Until then, all you will get on the board is speculation, and you need better than that.
