I am the original poster, and I have pm'd with several people on the situation. In other words, to all that suspect the "friend" aspect, whatever you feel is whatever you feel. But, this is a friend of mine. I spoke with her several times yesterday. She spoke to a lawyer and he told her not to tell ANYONE except for her husband. She didn't tell him that she told me.
I have never told her of OP's before, because I feel she would have abused them. Now I feel I may should have if it would have prevented this from happening. She said she was desperate, going through withdrawals, etc. There isn't one of us in pain that has had this occur, in my opinion. (i.e. withdrawals)
To let everyone know, my friend was not contacted by anyone yesterday. She is still scared out of her wits, because she admitted to me that she had done it before and it had worked. Stupid, stupid. But, oh well. If she gets it, she gets it-----this is definitely a wake-up call, and if she gets arrested, it will be another severe wake-up call.
Thank you for everone's two cents. I relayed all advice, especially the lawyer thing. We discussed her calling the doctor and explaining the situation, but this is our conclusion: if she tells the doc, the doc may have a legal obligation to call the authorities because if she tries to do it again and gets away with it, and then kills herself or someone by having a fake prescription, he will be held liable. At least, that was our thought process.
I am a dear friend of hers, and I feel like I am worrying just as much as she.
Anyway, that's it. I just wanted to throw my word in since this post has gotten a lot of attention. I never knew it would receive such command. Thanks.
