Ozzy, Winona, Anna Nicole (don't forget her, just try not to picture what she looks like now eww ), etc. all have serious substance abuse problems. I really wish the media didn't publicize every little bit, but they do and that will never change. I still wish them the best in conquering their addiction, it sucks no matter who you are- the emotional turmoil doesn't discriminate along class lines.
But yeah, there are a lot of untalented, pampered idiots. It seems like teenyboppers will gobble up whatever the music industry feeds them, and that's too bad. MTV (with a few exceptions) is such Best if kept off the board now. It really seems that your musical talent is not the issue, it's 'do you look good enough to sell records?'.
As far as the War on Drugs, I'm not expecting that to change any time soon, regardless of who gets elected or not. The average person doesn't think like us DB'ers- imagine their opinion of long-term opioid therapy when they see these news pieces? I'm not talking about celebrities, they've been abusing drugs since there have been celebrities (Marilyn Monroe, for example). I'm talking about all these news stories in magazines and on idiot TV. A real shame. Don't get me wrong, I am more than happy to write letters upon letters to our government, but I have to wonder if they even get read or if there will be any impact at all. When you see backwards progress, you get kinda discouraged...I still won't give up, just would like to see a more organized, well run , effective effort...
Edit: Beetle, just read the rest of your post with the health statistics...that is even more of a shame. If anyone finds a link to whatever article that was in (if it was an article), I'd be interested in reading it.
