"US Ops CANNOT prescribe it. Sch. II meds have to be written in triplicate...."
Just an FYI for ya....not every state has the same rules on how Schedule II prescriptions will be handled.
I have been taking Oxycontin and Oxycodone on a daily basis for about 6 months now, and a few days before my prescription is due for a refill, my doctor fills out the prescription electronically through the computer system at her office and prints it out for me. It has always only been one sheet of paper that I have to give the pharmacy. Plus, depending on what other prescriptions I may or may not be getting at the same time, she is able to type in up to 3 different prescriptions that all print out on that one piece of computer paper.
It is always on only ONE piece of paper, even when the other prescription that I may be getting is another Schedule II med, like the 5mg Oxycodone that I take for breakthrough pain in conjunction with the Oxycontin.
The first time she gave me that one piece of paper with 2 Schedule II medications on it, I was very surprised. Especially considering that these were written for quite a large amount of each medication.
180 - - 40mg Oxycontin
240 - - 5mg Oxycodone
And this is how it happens every time I get a refill.
Go figure!! It is funny because before we moved to this state, it seemed as though we would have to give a blood, urine, and a salive sample before we could even have a prescription for 20 vicodin filled. So the idea that all states demand a triplicate is not quite correct.
