Tussionex contains hydrocodone polystirex (sp) which is supposedly equivalent to 10 mg hydrocodone bitartrate, the ingredient in hycodan syrup, which has 5 mg per teaspoon. Tussionex also has chlorpheneramine, an antihistamine, and hycodan does not. Hycodan also contains homatropine methylbromide, which is somehow supposed to prevent abuse of the drug by making it unpleasant.
