ouch,Ouch and OUCH! Pharmacies carry a tiny bottle of 'Clove Oil' kept behind the counter but it is OTC. Rub some on the area and it numbs it. Not sure this would work as your dental problems lie beneath the gumline. Same goes for the infant/adult Ambesol.etc..
A Dentist's Office can easily call your Ins Carrier and verify your coverage so you can be seen as an Emergency case.
Here is a link for free dental care,look up your State and it shows who the Dentists are that participate. They do have income guidelines.
Folks like us who rely on a large amount of medicine often develop dental problems,like we really need THAT.
Our ER's Do have Dentist's on call and have a special room with a dental chair w/supplies in it.A swollen jaw sure means the infection has delved into your mandible. Studies are now finding bad teeth can cause serious medical problems and even stroke.
An ice pak may help with swelling,but antibiotics and getting the teeth repaired is the only solution.(I know you know that)
