I could not agree more...... this prohibition BS is doing 10000000 times the damage than the drugs to our society, this is a FAILED method and needs to be corrected NOW. These laws are of the same wisdom such as "you may not frown at a dog on sunday", and "you may not berate an olive in the town square".
I don't even know if I buy the notion that neither "party" wants to come off as the weak one...... I think it's now a directionless clusterf(#$ perpetuated and understood only by the agencies that directly benefit (visibly to us anyway).

You know, after watching this California circus, I have to wonder if there isn't a way to recall overtly stupid or ineffective laws. It's not even the law that I am frustrated with lately, it's the apathy of everyone involved that is just awful. Prohibitionists fight and fight to keep policy from evolving, but there is no unified front of considerable size to get these things changed. Let's face it, if we woke up tomorrow and 100 million people gathered at their local government buildings at the same time, there would be movement on the issues immediately. The US citizens don't do stuff like that anymore en masse, and it sucks. It's also guaranteed to perpetuate further restrictions IMO.
