This is VERY bad, Dr. Hurwitz has been audited by appointed physician panels before, and found to be in COMPLETE compliance with sound medical practice. Quantities are deceptive for many reasons, and the $1000 initially is not at ALL uncommon for high-liability specialists. The malpractice insurance and hazard pay FAR exceeds $1000 based on linear study of the current pain climate, I can express my opinion with all of my heart that I adamantly do NOT believe the $1000 has ANYTHING to do with greed. I've been billed that myself by a CRAPPY doctor, let alone one that does not believe in prolonged suffering, if not indefinite suffering in lieu of their fright. If all pain physicians rose up and stood their ground EN MASSE, the point would be made and these lawsuits would fall by the wayside.
Please read up on Dr. Hurwitz, this man's validity and best-practice procedures in the dispensing and monitoring of opioids etc. are well documented by patients and panels alike.
This is a MAJOR blow........ I hope those that read in enough to believe in his validity will also choose to donate to him, his legal costs are guaranteed to exceed a minimum of $500,000. Likely is $1,000,000. All because he stood his ground........
PS: There are also some very disturbing statistics about extremely disabled people that took their lives after he closed his practice. So, the total number of lives lost and continued suffering is exponentially larger than the deaths from diverted and abused drugs from those misrepresenting themselves at his clinic. This is just so sad, I wish nothing but speedy exoneration for the Dr. and his family, noone deserves this rap for operating on humanitarian principles.... this is nothing short of tyranny.
