Thanks Beetlenut and everyone else: I just wanted to give a quick update for anyone who may be in my situation.
For many, many days I had no pain medication whatsoever (the PMs kept referring me to other PMs without prescribing anything at all, even though my MRI, bone scans, etc...show some pretty horrendous things (I'll spare you).
Anyway, because I have chosen to live out my life without experimental cancer drugs (side effects were unbearable), chemo (ditto), or radiation; my insurance company and/or oncologists don't know what to do with me. I was told 3 years ago that I had probably 3 years with repetitive, aggressive treatment, or up to 2 years without any treatment.
After putting myself and family through hell trying treatments (you essentially go from feeling somewhat normal to feeling like you are dying when you start treatment); I decided to live my life without treatment, and had hoped that when the pain got severe I would be helped.
I was seriously mistaken.
But back to the point: I signed onto the message board asking for advice on (9/23)
Emailed Ephy.com late afternoon of (9/23) requesting consult
Faxed medical records same afternoon
Received email 9/24 a.m. confirming receipt of records
Received email 9/25 a.m. instructing me to call Dr.
Received email 9/25 p.m with tracking # and told to expect my meds (Hydro 10/325 90ct. and Soma 100 ct.) by
10:30 a.m 9/26...and they were delivered before 9 a.m. today, 9/26.
Sorry about all the extra info, but I thought it important that people know the gravity of my situation.
I was treated like a drug seeker and counseled to "learn to live with" my pain. This, despite the fact that I've already exceeded my life expectancy...why is it so hard for "real-world" doctors to prescribe pain relief with verifiable ailments? I know that, when the end comes, the insurance co and docs will gladly have me on a morphine drip, oblivious to all pain.
My question is, WHY do they wait until your life is effectively over before they'll help you with chronic pain?
Maybe I'd like to get out of bed and take a walk with my daughters and talk about the changing leaves.
Maybe I've dreamed about being able to toss a football with my sons just one more time out in the yard...well, you know what...I did both of those things today (so S*C*R*E*W you PM "docs"!!!)
Thanks to everyone here, and a special thanks for recommending ephy.com
They are unbelieveable and fast, fast, fast.
I will post the "just the facts" section on another thread, but had to take a moment to thank all of you.
If you have good medical records, I can't see how you could do better than ephy at the moment.
