Moonbeam, I know much more than I ever wanted to know regarding migraines and their treatment being that I have suffered with this chronic debilitating condition for over 10 years. The use of Lidocaine nasal spray is not new as it was first prescribed to me in late 1996. Any pharmacy that does medication compounding can dispense it to you. Do you have a PM doctor to write the prescription for you? As far as it's effectiveness I can only share my experience (which may not be the same for you or others). It did provide some decrease in the throbbing pain/sensation but did nothing as far as aborting the headache thus the intense pain/throbbing returned after about 20-30 minutes.
This would, however, help when used in combination with other abortive meds being that it would provide some relief(not total) until the actual abortive meds(taken by mouth) start to take effect. It does cause your nose to be very stuffy and numb along with some burning and unpleasant taste. Give it a try as it can't hurt and may help to provide some temporary much needed relief and other than the things I listed above there are no other side effects. Best of luck to you and if I can be of any help( as I have tried probably every medication available for migraines) feel free to PM me.
